Ask your friends and family to create a WISH LIST on Amazon.com. Then, you can check their list and get an item that you know they want. Likewise, create a wish list for yourself and send it out to your people. You can have your kids make their "Santa Lists" here too!
Speaking of Amazon.com, even without a wish list, if you have a sense of what your giftee likes in the way of music, books, movies (and tons of other items) this is the place to shop. They offer free delivery on purchases over $25 and make fast and trustworthy deliveries. Barnes and Noble is another good one for books. Here's an idea: Buy your giftee an ipod and a few downloaded songs to get them started. (Wow, I'm gonna have to put that on my own wish list!)
